Prairie Plains Resource Institute

Prairie Plains Resource Institute has been celebrating the land and its people since 1980! A nonprofit educational land trust, we’re dedicated to creating opportunities on the land for people of all ages. We offer a full calendar of events on our seven Nebraska prairie preserves, consultation for landowners and agencies regarding high-diversity prairie restoration, an award-winning nature day camp for elementary students and much, much more.

10,000 Acres!!!

We did it! On March 28, 2014, we planted our 10,000th acre of high-diversity local ecotype prairie. Who knew when Bill started planting prairies by hand in 1979 that the organization would be responsible for so much diversity and beauty? Check out photos of the planting here.

Chance of a Lifetime

Prairie Plains has a unique opportunity to enhance a public/private corridor along the Platte River in Hamilton County, Nebraska, with an option to purchase the 650 acre Sherman Ranch. Read about the project and download pledge forms here, donate online here and watch an interview with Tom Sherman to hear more about what this property meant to him.
